Coast & Caprivi

Overview

Starting in Windhoek and finishing Livingstone (or in the reverse order), this itinerary allows you to explore Namibia’s Skeleton Coast and Damaraland before heading north to world-renowned Etosha National Park for a few days of superb game viewing. For a complete change of scenery, you then drive east through the Caprivi Strip and end your trip at Zambia’s spectacular Victoria Falls. This trip can be done year round.

Itinerary

Location 1

Olive Grove, Windhoek

Day 1

Arrive in Windhoek where you will be met by a member of our team in Namibia and taken to the Olive Grove Guesthouse. This is a wonderfully friendly and comfortable place to relax after your flight and to prepare for the adventure ahead.

Location 2

Brigadoon Boutique Guesthouse, Swakopmund

Days 2 & 3

This morning you drive to the coastal town of Swakopmund where you will stay at at this friendly guesthouse with a maritime feel, close to the beach side restuarants and the town's iconic lighthouse. Your two night stay here will give you a full day to take part in some of the activities on offer in and around Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, perhaps including a 4x4 adventure through the dunes to Sandwich Bay (pictured).

Location 3

Spitzkoppe Campsite, Damaraland

Day 4

Today you will drive to Spitzkoppe in southern Damaraland, which we think is one of the most beautiful areas in Namibia, consisting of an imposing granite rock formation set in the plains. Definitely one of our favourites!

Mowani Campsite, Damaraland

Day 5

Head north into the heart of Damaraland where you will stay at one of the beautiful campsites nestled between huge boulders here. This is a great base from which to explore the rock art at Twyfelfontein.

Etosha Safari Lodge, Etosha National Park

Day 6

This morning you will head for the famous Etosha National Park. You stay at Etosha Safari Lodge.

Onguma Campsite, Etosha National Park

Days 7 & 8

This morning you set off early to enjoy a game drive through Etosha. You will then exit the park through the Von Lindequist Gate on the eastern side of the park and head for one of the two campsites on the Onguma Reserve which is just minutes from the gate.

Hakusembe River Lodge, Rundu

Day 9

Today you drive to Rundu and Hakusembe River Lodge which sits just above the beautiful Okavango flood plain. While relaxing on the floating deck you can marvel at the diverse birdlife here.

Location 8

Nunda Campsite, Caprivi Strip

Day 10

Continue along the Caprivi Strip today and stop at your campsite (nr Divundu) which is right on the river and close to Mahango National Park. Nunda, the local Thimbukushu name given to the fruit of the Jackalberry tree, is situated on the Kavango River in the land of the proud Hambukushu people.

Nambwa Campsite, Caprivi Strip

Day 11

Today you will be heading to a great little campsite, where game regularly wanders through. This secluded campsite has just 4 campsites nestled under either a majestic Jackleberry, Strangler Fig, Leadwood or Knobthorn tree right behind the Kwando River's 'Long Lagoon'.

Muchenje Campsite, Caprivi Strip

Day 12

Crossing over the border into Botswana you'll drive to Muchenje Campsite just outside the beautiful game rich Chobe National Park. Family owned and managed , it has spacious and shaded campsites. The Ngoma entrance gate to Chobe National Park is just 5 minutes away.

Location 11

The Woodlands at Waterberry Lodge, Livingstone

Days 13 & 14

Today you cross the border from Botswana into Zambia and continue to the banks of the river Zambezi where you will stay at one our favourite camps, The Woodlands at Waterberry Lodge located on the banks of the Zambezi River. From here you can take a day trip to see the magnificent Victoria Falls.

Day 15

You will be transferred to Livingstone airport in good time for your flight home.
