Lots of visitors assume Namibia's best regions are up north, near Etosha, close to the wildlife. However, it's actually the South which boasts some of the country's most iconic features and generally the best scenery. On this route you will travel through deserts, up giant sand dunes and around canyons. It's one for the desert explorer, and for them it will be hard to beat!
Arrive in Windhoek, transferred to Olive Grove Guesthouse for your first night's stay. Later in the afternoon you will be taken to our base and introduced to your vehicle, plus briefed on the vehicle, its equipment, the driving conditions, route and safety issues.
Today you have the morning to stock-up for the trip ahead, before setting off to Bagatelle Kahlahari Game Ranch. Here you have the option to camp or stay at their lodge. Both options are wonderful. There is also a pool, 4x4 trails and one hell of a view!
This morning you cross the border from Nambia into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Set on the 91st Dune off the Auob River Road is !Xaus (pronounced 'kaus'), the setting is optimised for quiet contemplation of the desert and magnificent star canopy of the night sky.

Continue to Twee Rivieren today. This is the Park’s largest rest camp and administrative headquarters. It is situated on the banks of the Dry Nossob Riverbed.
Today you drive to Fish River Lodge. From here you can make visits to the stunning Fish River Canyon!
Today you have two a choice of routes, the longer but truly beautiful route is south to the Orange River. You will then arrive a lovely property in Klein Aus Vista (one of our favourite regions) called the Eagles Nest. From here you can visit the wild horses, do some trekking (or cycling) on the farm and visit Luderitz.
This morning you drive to NamibRand Hideout, which is a single private site on a farm in the heart of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Surrounded by exceptional desert and natural beauty this is a fantastically private and peaceful campsite.
This morning you will drive north to stay at the Dead Valley Lodge, which lies just inside the Sesriem gate. Accessibility to the dunes from here is superb, so you can reach the dunes in good time to see both sunset and sunrise. Built on raised wooden decking, this lodge offers guests a superb view from every angle.
Leaving Sossusvlei, you will begin heading back towards Windhoek, stopping at the very welcoming Namib Grens Guest Farm.
Today you will return to the Olive Grove for your final night in Africa.
This morning you will be transferred back to Windhoek airport in good time to check in for your flight home.
