The effect of the rains on Zambia’s roads can be severe and the
best time to visit the country is therefore during the dry season,
which runs from June to October. But October can be very
very hot!
During the wet season, other than potential problems with muddy,
washed out roads, there are also the rivers to contend with. For
example, driving between North and South Luangwa National Parks
means crossing the Luanga River – and there aren’t any bridges!
So, prior to the start of the dry season, access from one park to
the other can be extremely difficult and often completely impossible
as the river is too high and the water very fast-flowing.
Having said this, there are parts of Zambia that are accessible
all year round so it depends on the regions you would like to visit.
Please feel free to ask us and we will be happy to advise you accordingly.
The following chart is a quick reference to the predominant
weather conditions during different months of the year. However,
please remember that there are no hard and fast rules!
