Remember, we create individual, tailor-made itineraries
so please don’t feel you have to stick to the following. It is just
one example of the many trips we can arrange in Zambia.
Our sample itineraries for Zambia and Malawi are combined, since
most people like to visit both countries as part of the same safari.
However, we are equally happy to organise itineraries for just one
country so please ask if this is your preferred option.
Here is a short trip we organised for a family who had not been
to Africa before and wanted to see ‘real Africa’ and lots of game.
For an example of a longer Malawi / Zambia safari, please take a
look at the Malawi itineraries page.
| Day 1 |
Arrive in Lilongwe and stay overnight in a colonial
style hotel in the old part of the city. |
| |
|
| Days 2-3 |
Vehicle handover and full briefing. Head south to Liwonde
National Park for a two day stay and plenty of game and bird
viewing. |
| |
|
| Days 4-5 |
Set off up the side of Lake Malawi . Leave the vehicle and
head off for 2 nights at a very nice, diminutive eco-lodge on
an island. Days here can be spent snorkeling, kayaking, swimming,
wind-surfing and relaxing in the sunshine. |
| |
|
| Day 6 |
Return to the shore to collect the vehicle and continue north
to Viphya Plateau for an overnight stay, breaking the journey
north. |
| |
|
| Days 7-8 |
Head to Vwasa Marsh to spend two nights based at a small,
well run lodge and explore this pretty park |
| |
|
| Days 9-10 |
Drive north to the gorgeous Nyika Plateau where you stay in
your own little house with a big roaring fire, set amongst the
pine trees. No predators means plenty of riding / walking. |
| |
|
| Day 11 |
A long drive back to Lilongwe to stay at a lovely, family-run
farm on the outskirts of town before returning home the next
day. |
*If preferred, you can camp every night of this itinerary
except for Nyika, where the low temperatures at night make it a
less comfortable option.
