Navigating the endless dirt tracks and washed out roads has always been one of the biggest challenges when traveling in Africa. Over the years the accuracy of the maps has improved and made life a little easier for the self drive adventurer. In recent years Global Positioning Systems and Sat nav pin point accuracy has opened up a whole new world in regards to wilderness navigation. This has in no way taken the fun out of driving in Africa but it does give an added confidence when exploring the more remote regions.
