Since the beginning of the safari era, the private mobile safari has been the most long-established means of experiencing the African bush yet, traditionally, it has been too costly for most budgets. We have changed all that by developing a small, exclusive mobile tented safari, which focuses on the things that matter and cuts out the superfluous expenses and gratuitous luxuries;

Whether you are travelling in a group, as a couple or on your own, every trip is designed to match your interests, the season of travel and the length of time you have available.

How it works

Your game viewing is in an open Land Rover driven by a highly experienced guide and your camps are set up in superb, secluded locations and wonderful camping areas within wildlife reserves. You are looked after by a small, efficient and friendly team who run your camp, cook all your meals, take you out into the parks and generally look after all your needs. Your accommodation is in roomy, walk-in bow tents with comfortable stretcher beds with thick bed rolls made up with sheets, duvets and pillows. Your own private loo and shower tent are erected nearby. The camp also includes a dining room and kitchen tent during the rains. Your chef prepares delicious meals, homemade bread and cakes while you are off exploring with your guide.

The starting and finishing points of your Safari Drive Under Canvas safari are organised to fit in conveniently with your Safari Drive self drive plans. As with all of our safaris, your safety is paramount and you can be confident that we only use the most experienced and safety-conscious guides. HF radio and comprehensive First Aid Kits are carried on all of our vehicles and satellite phones are available for rental if required. Medical air rescue is also included in the unlikely event of any problems.
