Emma goes to Oman

Emma Hanlon, our most recent addition to the UK Safari Drive office has just returned from a research trip to Oman. We have been offering Oman as a self drive destination for over four years now and it has continued to grow in this time.

Oman combines a distinct Middle Eastern feel with landscapes that are not dissimilar from Namibia, and while it is worlds away from our African destinations in most respects the open spaces and feeling of freedom when out on the road are common to both.

Safari Drive awarded the "Travel Company of the Year " by AITO

We were delighted to be presented with the award by AITO at the recent Travel Press day. Meregan Turner stepped up to receive the award from AITO chairman Derek Moore. The plaque sits proudly in the office and is a testament to all the hard work from our team on the ground in Africa, the UK office and the warm welcome from the lodges and camps that we use.

The award was in the smaller business category for AITO members that send less than 3000 people on holiday.

Oman is our latest Safari Drive destination

Following an extremely exciting recce at the beginning of 2005, Oman is our latest Safari Drive destination.

We have a fantastic ground crew in place, including a wonderful Bedouin guide to accompany you into the Empty Quarter.

Having experienced it first hand, we can recommend Oman for anyone who has never self driven abroad before.

It’s an extremely safe country with an excellent road system. The Omani people are bursting with friendliness and their hospitality is boundless.

There is so much to see and somehow you feel like you’re the first person in the world to see it.
