The effect of the rains on Zambia’s roads can be severe and the best time to visit the country is therefore during the dry season, which runs from June to October. But October can be very very hot!
During the wet season, other than potential problems with muddy, washed out roads, there are also the rivers to contend with.
For example, driving between North and South Luangwa National Parks means crossing the Luanga River – and there aren’t any bridges!
Since the river is too high and the water very fast-flowing prior to the start of the dry season, access from one park to the other can be extremely difficult and often completely impossible.
Having said this, there are parts of Zambia that are accessible all year round so it depends on the regions you would like to visit.
Please feel free to ask us and we will be happy to advise you accordingly.

Fly into Livingstone and see the Falls then drive to the Lower Zambezi National Park and camp on the banks of the river. Cross country to South Luangwa Park for more superb game viewing and on to Malawi with optional stays at the stunning Mombo Island on the Lake.
Africa is a truly wild continent and the potential pitfalls for the inexperienced and unsuspecting traveller can be vast.
Independence and freedom to explore are vital ingredients of your safari but so is your safety.
Self driving means you will be taking responsibility for certain aspects of your own safety and you must, therefore, be prepared in advance.
Your preparation will include such things as: full briefings, training, safetly equipment and emergency satelite phones.
