A 14 day self drive starting in Livingstone and ending in Lusaka (or vice versa) staying in lodges for 6 nights and camping for 8 nights. The price is £2,990 per person based on 2 people travelling. Best time of year is June to November. A remote and rewarding journey!

Itinerary

Day 1: Depart London Heathrow
   
Day 2: Waterberry Lodge, Livingstone

Day 3: Waterberry Lodge, Livingstone

Remain based at Waterberry Lodge for a second night.

Day 4: Campsite, Kafue National Park

The birdlife is phenomenal throughout the year, and sightings can almost be guaranteed of the endemic Black-cheeked Lovebird, the Wattled Crane, Ground Hornbill and Saddle-billed Stork amongst others. Here you stay in a prebooked and paid campsite. Allow for a 6 hours drive.

Day 5: Kafue National Park

Remain based here for a second night.

Day 6: Kafue National Park

Remain based here for a third night

Day 7: Kafue National Park

Cookes' African Safaris is a family run safari operation situated on the banks of Lake Itezhi -Tezhi in the southern areas of the unspoilt Kafue National Park.

Day 8: Konkamoya Camp, Kafue National Park

Remain based here for a second night.

Day 9: Kaingu Campsite, Kafue National Park

Today you will head east to stay at the Bush campsite at the Kaingu Safari Lodge. The campsite is set back from the river and the camping area is under large shady trees. Firewood is supplied and there are shared ablution facilities. Here you stay in a prebooked and paid campsite.  Allow for a 4 hours drive.

Day 10: Kaingu Campsite, Kafue National Park

Remain based here for a second night.

Day 11: Mayukuyuku Campsite, Kafue National Park

The Makyukuyuku Camp is located 15 kilometres East of the Kafue Hook Bridge on the northern side of the road, just 8 kilometres from the tarmac.

Day 12: Mayukuyuku Campsite, Kafue National Park

Remain based here for a second night

Day 13: Hippo Camp, Kafue National Park

Hippo Lodge is situated along the banks of the Kafue River in Kafue National Park. As such it's a perfect destination for nature lovers, bird watchers and anglers alike.

Day 14: Hippo Camp, Kafue National Park

Remain based here for a second night.

Day 15: Pioneer Camp, Lusaka

Here you stay in a prebooked and paid campsite.

Day 16: Depart Lusaka
