Weather conditions

When is a good time to go to Tanzania?

A tropical climate prevails in Tanzania - although, owing to its enormous size and diversity, there are areas where the climate (and particularly microclimates) can differ.

Tanzania’s highest point is Mount Kilimanjaro, which is always covered in snow but throughout the rest of the country temperatures are generally hot and humidity is high on the coast.

The rains follow a very similar pattern to Kenya. There are light rains in November and heavy rains in April and May. The latter two months are really the only time we would not recommend that you go.

The November rains are invariably very light and sometimes they do not happen at all. On the coast, the weather is less humid between June and September.

Please note that the comfort rating below is a general rating and can obviously change depending on where you are in the country. For example, the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater can get extremely chilly and damp at night.
