Safari Drive Home

Places to visit & wildlife

Here is a list of just some of our favourite places to visit in Tanzania. This is not a comprehensive list so if there are other places you are keen to visit and would like further information please let us know and we'll be happy to help. They can all be included as part of a self drive itinerary except for the following:

  • Selous Game Reserve
  • Ruaha National Park
  • Katavi National Park
  • Mahale Mountains National Park

Tanzania is a vast country and these areas are simply too far away from the other areas we go to. Selous and Ruaha would involve a 14 hour drive from our base in Arusha with nowhere suitable to stay en route and Mahale and Katavi would also necessitate huge distances wasting valuable holiday time. It is more appropriate to fly into these regions and this is something we regularly arrange for people who want to visit them as an 'add-on' to their self drive safari. Please don't hesitate to ask if this is of interest.

SerengetiNational Park

Beautiful, expansive plains, home to thousands upon thousands of animals.

Ngorongoro Crater

A massive volcano crater with abundant game wandering its vast floor.

Tarangire National Park

Less well known but a great park with copious amounts of game.

Lake Manyara National Park

A diversity of habitats attract a great variety of animals and birds.

Selous & Ruaha

Two fantastic game viewing regions in the south and ideal as a joint add-on to a self drive safari.

Katavi & Mahale

Two unusual and extremely remote parks in the west and a fascinating add-on to a self drive safari.
