The Great Migration is one of the most spectacular events of the animal kingdom. Literally millions of animals make the annual migration from Tanzania to Kenya in search of water and grazing. Wildebeest, zebra and gazelle travel in hoards to reach richer pastures and their instinct to do this is so strong that they will risk their lives during their perilous journey crossing the raging torrents of crocodile-infested waters. Cheetah, hunting dog, lion and hyena wait patiently, ready to pick off the weak and the weary. At Safari Drive, we can recommend certain routes at various times of year so that your journey can come into close proximity of this extraordinary movement of game.

A real adventure

Tanzania is one Safari Drive destination that we like to recommend to our more adventurous clients. It can allow for an extremely exciting and much more hands-on safari. The camping is challenging and the experience thrilling. We use private campsites located deep in the heart of the national parks. They may lack the facilities you find elsewhere in Africa but they benefit from some truly stunning locations.

Tanzania & Safari Drive

Our Tanzanian operations are based in Arusha and are managed by a highly experienced couple who know the areas through which our clients travel extremely well. We prefer to include the northern parks in our itineraries not only as they have the most game but also as a means of cutting down on the enormous distances necessitated by driving to the southern parks. For people wishing to travel south, we simply organise transfer flights and super lodge stays as a fabulous add-on to a self drive safari.
