Itinerary

Day 1: Muscat
Arrive Muscat and send the night in a luxurious hotel. 

Day 2: Free camp of the coast near Sur
Drive South East towards Sur. Once on the coast you will find a spot to camp for the night.

Day 3 & 4: Nomadic Desert Camp, Wahiba Sands
After breakfast set off towards Wahiba Sands, at the small town of Al Wasil you will meet your guide who will lead you into the desert. At the end of a day of driving through deep sand you will reach Nomadic Desert Camp. Nomadic Desert Camp is one of the smallest and most genuine camps. A camel rides are offered and accommodation is in small and very simple, but none the less comfortable palm leaf constructed rooms. The showers and loos are a short walk away and are shared with the rest of the guests. Candles and oil lights are used as there is no electricity.

Day 5: Falaj Daris, Nizwa
Today you drive to Nizwa to stay at the modern hotel just inside the small town. This stop gives you time to visit the historical sights of the town.

Day 6 & 7: Al Jabal al Akhdar
Today you set off for the amazing area of Jabal Al Akhdar. The long climb up the mountain leaves you in a quite extraordinary area of villages and cultivation. Two days here give you time to explore and walk if you wish. You stay at Al Jabal Al Akhdar Hotel which is a small and simple hotel set away from any other buildings out in the country. The hotel is basic and it can be cold. The bed rooms are clean and simply furnished with all modern conveniences. The dining room serves simple food and the staff are friendly.

Day 8: Rough camp on the coast near Ad Duqm
Break your journey south with a stop on the coast, there are several interesting, remote bays in which to set up camp.

Day 9: Rough camp on the coast near Al Jazir
Break your journey again with another stop on the coast.

Day 10 & 11: The Empty Quarter
A true highlight of Oman is the awe-inspiring Empty Quarter. Very few people will ever have experienced the total isolation of this utterly beautiful and barren desert. Three hundred meter high red sand dunes roll for hundreds of miles into Saudi Arabia and The Yemen. There are no facilities of any kind, just lots of sand, you and your vehicle, ear-ringing tranquility. You will eat what you have brought with you and sleep under the stars or in your tent. Here you will be free camping in the desert.

Day 12: Arabian Sea Villas, Salalah
Continue south to Salalah and the Arabian Sea Villas which are located on the beach in the central area of town, from here you are well placed to explore. This evening your Land Cruiser will be collected from you.

Day 13: Depart
You spend the day relaxing before you are driven to the airport to connect with your onward flight.
